I DON'T USUALLY WARM UP? YOU NEED TO READ THIS!!

Hate warming up? Please Read!

                                                            Warm Up before a Workout!

No one wants to get hurt!

I hate it when I observe people come into the gym and immediately go straight into exercising. Especially the ones that go straight into carrying heavy weights. Believe it or not these are the people that end up getting injured.

Today we're going to learn about the importance and elements of a warm up. Trust me on this one FitMind's , warning up is the most important thing you can do before exercising. So why warm up?
Two simple reasons:
  • To prepare the mind and body for the activity to follow
  • To help prevent injury
Some other effects of a good warm up are increased blood flow to the working muscles, nerve impulses travel more quickly, your heart rate increases and the build up of pact acid is reduced.

Boring you yet? Let's look at the elements of a warm up.

The pulse raiser
This could be done using a treadmill, X-Trainer or a rower. Usually for about 5-10 minutes.

Dynamic stretches
These stretches use the force production of a muscle and the body’s momentum to take a joint through the full available range of motion. By getting your muscles loose and warm before your workout you will most likely stay injury free. Blood circulation also improves. 5-10 repetitions is all you need. Also try to improve range and speed with each repetition. A great example is the lunge with rotation.

Static stretches
These stretches help promote correct posture and should involve major muscle groups. Hold stretch for 8-10 seconds. A good example is the standing quad stretch.

Remember guys work hard and do your best. Be consistent, be persistent. Always warm up before a workout!
